July 2023 – Carrying my backpack alone, I arrived in the deep mountains of Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County, Guizhou, where I began an unforgettable journey at Zhiliyuan Beverage Company’s factory. I still remember my first day stepping into the workshop—the vast production floor and roaring machinery filled me with both excitement and nervousness. Over the next month, I immersed myself in every aspect of the production line, absorbing knowledge like a sponge.
Beyond hands-on factory work, I also took on various “extra assignments”: crunching numbers on financial reports in the office, learning the tricks of cost accounting, and poring over contract details late into the night. Among my proudest achievements were filming and editing a documentary on the sea buckthorn beverage production process, which later became part of the company’s promotional materials, and helping organize a Hong Kong–Daozhen charity exchange event. From drafting the initial proposal to overseeing its execution, every step was a labor of teamwork. The night before the event, we were still fine-tuning the schedule until 3 a.m.—yet seeing guests from both sides chatting and toasting the next day made all the exhaustion worthwhile.
This experience brought me countless “firsts” in life: my first burn from factory steam, my first battle against mosquitoes on a camp cot, my first sleepless night over cost calculations… But it was precisely these bittersweet moments that let me truly feel the pulse of the real economy. Looking back now, those sweat-drenched days taught me not just the ins and outs of beverage production, but also that running a business demands more than passion—it requires relentless attention to every detail. Like the sea buckthorn itself, the experience was tart at first bite, but left a remarkably sweet aftertaste.
